Weather Information

The mild, subtropical climate of the Florida Keys & Key West is a result of the islands' unique geographic location. The temperate waters of Florida Bay and the Gulf of Mexico to the west and north combine with the year-round flow of warm water from the Atlantic Ocean's Gulf Stream to give the island chain consistently balmy weather.

Air temperature differences between day and night average only about 10 degrees throughout the year. During winter months the average temperature is only about 14 degrees lower than in summer.

The sea temperature from November to April averages 74 degrees, and between May and October averages 82 degrees.

In the past 40 years, there is no known record of frost, ice, sleet or snow in the Keys, according to weather officials.
